When it comes to Fiesta Medals, everyone is trying to do something new or innovative. For 2018, this Barrel of Monkeys Fiesta Medal by SA Flavor writer, technologist and comedy improv actor Alan Bush pushes the envelope. Coming in at over seven-inches in length, this may be the longest Fiesta Medal ever made!
The medal features a throwback to our childhood, riffing on the nostalgia (an important theme for any medal) of a game that we all played while growing up. Linking hand-in-hand, these monkeys are all working together to get a scoop of guacamole in the molcajete at the bottom of the chain.
Alan chose to donate a dollar from every medal sale to Texas Public Radio, a nonprofit that has been an invaluable voice for him since coming to San Antonio several years ago. “I appreciate their balance of local, national and international news, along with exciting and informative shows from local and national broadcasters,” Alan said. “TPR gets its funding from listeners, and this is a great opportunity for this listener to help give back even a small fraction of the value I’ve taken from TPR over the years.”
